a àmeans àand àultimately they have to come to àthe àplatform àof Í Brahman or the impersonal realization. But here Vyasadeva is ànot Í saying àthat. He says that this is the direct process. àTherefore Í he composed this 'satvatasamhita'.
says the adhoksaja is a name of Krsna, because 'aksa' is the axel Í of àthe cart. Krsna was hanging under this cart in the àhouse àof Í Nanda Maharaja when He was a baby, then the Saktasura came and He Í kicked àhim àand the cart broke down. Krsna was àlying àthere àso Í everyone àcame and said: "adhoksaja!". Adha means below, aksa àis Í the axle of the cart and ja means born. So everyone said :"He has Í taken another birth!" They thougth He was dead, because they àsaw Í the àbig cart all broken with so many things hanging on àit. àBut Í nothing àhad happened to Krsna. So they said His name àshould àbe Í "Adhoksaja". Srila Jiva Goswami says that this is that àAdhoksaja Í to Whom we have to perform bhakti.
sruyamanayam krsne paramapuruse / bhaktir utpadyate pumsah àsokaÍ mohabhayapaha à//. àWhat àis the use àof àcomposing àthis àsatva-Í samhita, àwhat is the use? Because simply by hearing it one àwill Í attain àdevotion àto Krsna who is parampurusa. This is àthe àsame Í parampurusa àthat àVyasa àhas seen, Krsna the son àof àNanda àand Í Yasoda. Sruyamanayam means "while listening" it will happen. àAnd Í after àlistening one starts preaching. One will àbecome àblissful Í and free from sakamohabhayapaha, the material desease of lamentaÍ tion, bewilderement and fear.
sukam adhyapayam asa nivrttiniratam munim, after composing this Í Srimad-Bhagavatam which is known as bhagavati-samhita, àVyasadeva Í taught this book to Sukadeva Goswami. And why did he teach it àto Í Sukadeva àGoswami àsince he had so many disciples àlike àJaimini, Í Vyasampanu, àRomaharsana and others, all so great àpersonalities, Í so àwhy he taught it to Sukadeva who did even knew how àto àtight Í his kopins? He says nivrttiniratam munim, because Sukadeva GoswaÍ mi was nivrtta, he was not in the path of pravrtti-marga, he àwas Í completely renounced, that means he had no scope of misusing àthe Í book. He had no scope of misunderstanding the book, because àwhen Í one àhas àmaterial desires in the heart one has the àtendency àto Í misunderstand or misinterpret the message for our means. Sukadeva Í was àa àmuni, a thougthful person even though he àwander àlike àa Í crazy person. There are crazy people who don't care for anything, also nivrttaniratam, but they are not àmuni, Í thougthful. Then Vyasadeva explained the atmarama ca munayo.
Srimad-Bhagavatam and its philosophy. This is actually the àheart Í of Srila Vyasadeva. This is the theme which he takes and compiles Í later àon. This is where all the Vainava philosophies, àspecially Í the àGaudiya Vaisnava philosophy, come from, because the name àof Í Krsna àis àdirectly mentioned, bhakti is mentioned and àalso àthe Í energies of the Lord are mentioned. Therefore this is what àSrila Í Jiva Goswami expands. He just expands the original message, àthat Í is àwhy àhe calls his work bhagavat-sandharbhas, àor àthe àbooks Í which reveal the hidden meanings of Srimad-Bhagavatam, the àheart Í of àSrila àVyasadeva. He actually goes to the àhidden àheart àand Í takes all the meaning.
he àquotes verses where Suta Goswami himself is speaking. To àthe Í six àquestions àput by the sages of àNaimisaranya, àSuta àGoswami Í first àanswered himself in the second and third chapters. And àif Í we àread those, again we find all the philosophy is àthere. àAnd Í Suta àGoswami àhimself has given the same àsolution. àHe àhimself Í talks àabout studying the Srimad-Bhagavatam. He begins by àsaying Í narayana ànamaskrtyam\ naro caiva narottama, and then he goes àon Í to àsay nityam bhagavatam sevaya, just by performing àservice àto Í this àbhagavatam àone's heart can become purified. àIn àthis àway Í Srila àJiva àGoswami àanalizes the hearts of àthese àthree àgreat Í personalities, àthe àwritter, the first speaker àand àthe àsecond Í speaker. àThen he says that if one wants to analize àfurther, àhe Í can also analize the heart of Maitreya Muni, who is also a àgreat Í speaker of the Bhagavatam, analize the heart of Pariksit àMaharaÍ ja, àwhat he actually wanted to hear (because àPariksit àMaharaja Í himself àsaid: "I am not worried whether the tataksa serpent àcan Í come àand bite me, please continue to chant the glories àof àLord Í Visnu, because I am not interested in anything else."). So if àwe Í analize àin this way we will see that the àSrimad-Bhagavatam àexÍ plains these three things: sambandha, abhideya and prayojana.
